From the Journals
This SIAM journal will publish work that advances mathematical, statistical, and computational methods in the context of data and information sciences. Authors are encouraged to submit their work when the journal begins to take submissions this spring. See http://www.siam.org/journals/simods.php for updates on the launch of the journal and more information.
MathWorks is title sponsor of SIAM’s Popular National Math Modeling Challenge. Deadline to register teams of high school juniors and seniors is February 23, 2018. Challenge weekend is March 2-5, 2018. Final event with Champion and all winners announced is set for April 30, 2018. Official rules and guidelines available here.|
March 7 – 10, 2018
Tokyo, Japan --
The conference is unique in its emphasis on the intersection between high performance scientific computing and scalable algorithms, architectures, and software. The conference provides a forum for communication among the applied mathematics, computer science, and computational science and engineering communities.
Andrew Sparks, United Technologies Research Center, USA, spoke at the 2017 Conference on Control and Its Applications on
Mathematical Challenges in Control of Large-Scale Complex Systems. The talk presented some motivating examples of large-scale, complex systems and some interesting results on approaches to decomposition and control. This talk is available online along with more presentations from this conference and other SIAM meetings at SIAM Presents.|
