From the Journals
This SIAM journal will publish work that advances mathematical, statistical, and computational methods in the context of data and information sciences. Authors are encouraged to submit their work when the journal begins to take submissions this spring. See http://www.siam.org/journals/simods.php for updates on the launch of the journal and more information.
The 2018 Gene Golub SIAM Summer School will take place June 17-30 at the Double Tree by Hilton in Breckenridge, Colorado, USA. Application deadline is February 1, 2018.|
July 9 – 11, 2018
Portland, Oregon, USA --
The purpose of the SIAM Activity Group on Applied Mathematics Education is to advance the development and practice of educational programs, courses, and resources in applied mathematics. This will include but not be limited to organizing conferences, maintaining a curated web-based repository of resources in modeling, computational and applied mathematics, and mathematical sciences, including their many applications.
Andrew Sparks, United Technologies Research Center, USA, spoke at the 2017 Conference on Control and Its Applications on
Mathematical Challenges in Control of Large-Scale Complex Systems. The talk presented some motivating examples of large-scale, complex systems and some interesting results on approaches to decomposition and control. This talk is available online along with more presentations from this conference and other SIAM meetings at SIAM Presents.|
